Each year, September is marked by the unmissable Maison & Objet trade fair. A veritable laboratory of trends, it is the unmissable place to take stock of the new decorations for the coming season. Just like in the world of fashion, decoration knows a seasonality in terms of styles, materials and renderings. The field of wallcoverings is not to be outdone with breathtaking technical and aesthetic innovations.
What's new in style?
The different style offices present at Maison & Objet are formal: 2014 will be under the sign of plants, urban looks, and cozy chic. These three decorative trends, very distant from each other, are however found among wall covering professionals in different forms. The wallpapers, which have made a comeback in recent seasons, display plant motifs inspired by our grandmothers' scrolls. Flowers and fruits, retro or modernized, invade the walls for our greatest pleasure! The cozy chic style comes straight from the fashion world, so it is naturally that it is sublimated this season by fashion houses. Many have embarked on the great decoration adventure after the success of Zara Home or Missoni. Refined materials, baroque chic spirit, the walls are adorned with a touch of glamor imagined by Sonia Rykiel, Ralph Lauren and Desigual Home. The urban look gives pride of place to raw and mineral materials. The walls are now enhanced by stone (natural or imitated), concrete and effect paints. The loft spirit is more relevant than ever!
The marriage of technique and aesthetics
Big news this year: lacquered glass. At Glassolution, opaque and customizable lacquered glass (color, appearance, impression, etc.) is particularly suitable for kitchen and bathroom walls thanks to its ease of maintenance and its modern finish. It can be installed on the wall, but also on furniture. The real good idea of the year! The paint brand Tollens is launching a collection called "Elements": the pigments used are of natural origin and the colors are inspired by the plant and mineral world. Here is what to create a soft and soothing decor while being respectful of the environment. As for PVC coverings, the new impressions given to modern tones allow to completely change the atmosphere of a room at a lower cost. Concrete, wood or tiling effect, The wall coverings offered by the Grosfillex brand have some nice surprises in store for the final result! The icing on the cake, they are now adhesive for even more ease during installation. Finally the giant Lapeyre offers us a comeback under the sign of astonishment: from paneling to steel look through natural stone look tiles - more real than life! - his proposals for wall coverings have not finished giving us ideas!
