Fight against aphids
To show the benefits of biodiversity in a garden, Stéphanie Taffin chose the example of the rose bush. The latter is a real eye and olfactory pleasure. However, it is very subject to disease and insect attack. Its greatest enemy is certainly the aphid. To make the latter flee, a first solution lies in the creation of a ground cover obtained by cultivating different plants at the base of the rose bush. Aromatics such as thyme, sage, basil, rosemary or even the different species of lavender are very effective. They produce substances that repel aphids and thus allow the leaves of the rose bush to remain relatively healthy.
Fight against mushrooms
To fight against fungi, we will favor plants such as garlic and chives. These repel powdery mildew and promote the disappearance of blisters and molds that develop on the foliage.
Finally, the biggest allies of your roses are undoubtedly the birds, especially the chickadees which are able to eat between 200 and 400 aphids per hour. But to encourage birds to stay in your garden, you have to feed them and why not provide them with shelter. Obviously, stop any chemical treatment of roses that could poison them. Now you know that it is possible to avoid certain diseases by simply grouping plants together. Thus, you play on biodiversity and avoid the use of chemicals. Better yet, you create very flowery corners that will make your garden much more attractive and warm! Find Natural garden maintenance with biodiversity on Minutefacile.com. Produced by Minute Facile.
